President Bush addresses the United Nations in late September, 2003. The news was reported this way: Bush to attend U.N., Sept. 23-24 WASHINGTON, Sept. 12 (UPI) -- President George W. Bush will address the United Nations as it opens debate Sept. 23-24, the White House said Friday. Bush, who is seeking a new U.N. resolution on Iraq, will address the 58th United Nations General Assembly on the opening day of its general debate. Bush also is planning to meet with Secretary-General Kofi Annan, as well as St. Lucian Foreign Minister Julian Hunte, who assumes the presidency of the General Assembly this month. The White House said they are expected to discuss a range of issues. While in New York, Bush also is expected to hold meetings with other world leaders. I'm reminded of the little children who argue about who gets the cookies while the house that made them burns down. You don't really expect little children to take adult views of matters. Germany and France, particularly, who couldn't and didn't take care of their own citizens when Hitler was the bad guy? Well, they continue to close their eyes to the evil around them. They, thus, contribute to the evil. Most of the UN seems to be made up of people who want the US to protect them, but not to shoot any guns while doing it. The Civilized World is at war with the terrorists, on virtually every land mass on the planet. Who can be proud of the nations who are ignoring the enemy who is infiltrating (read: invading) their homelands -- saying that it is not OK to shoot while the cookies and the children who eat them are both being destroyed. Are there no grown-ups around? Other than Mr. Bush? And a few others? |
