Dear Karl Loren, I was almost about to quote you in my earlier mail. Threat bigger than the bank --- that is perfect...!! Musharraf is appearing to be behaving properly only because of fear of Bush, whose reaction was very serious & harsh immediately after 9/11. Bush appears to have known who the culprit was and threatened Musharraf with severe action --- meaning business. Musharraf (caught literally with his pants down by CIA) got terribly scared and offered unconditional co-operation in the fight against Al Qaeda which was incidentally his own brain child --- nurtured and nourished for long. Had Musharraf refused --- it probably would have been "Afghanistan & Pakistan" together to face the war of USA & UK then. India offered full co-operation immediately (within minutes of 9/11 incident) to join USA in the fight against terrorism as it suffered for too long from it and understood the need to eliminate it once for all. Indian public opinion was totally in favour of India joining USA in this fight for many reasons. The thinking here was that this will not only solve the problem of terrorism in the region, but will provide an opportunity to cement the growing good relations between USA & India. But Musharraf played a trick with USA and succeeded -- for unknown reasons. He put a condition that India has to be kept out of the fight against Al Qaeda, if USA wants Pakistan's full co-operation. USA took the bait for logistical advantage. Now it is evident that USA has been putting lot of pressure (off late) on Musharraf to mend his ways with India, failing which they will not be willing to restrain India in case of a war between India and Pakistan. India is 8 times bigger than Pakistan in everything and the results are predictable. Actually but for Nixon's interference (with US Navy's 7th fleet) long ago during Bangladesh war, India would have permanently subdued Pakistan and made a satellite out of it. USA desires that condition "now" -- to have India as a strategic partner for taking care of US interests in this region on some mutuality basis. But it is late as Pak is nuclear now. I have a feeling that USA, India & Israel have a plan to de-nuclearise Pakistan at the earliest opportunity to ensure global safety on a long run.

I've worried about this group becoming too narrowly focused on the wisdom of Bush, and other world leaders, in contrast to the children running in the Democratic race. But, the truth will out. It well appears that Mr. Bush has dozens, if not thousands, of "little projects" working on the world stage -- one big project of which is the increaing alignment between the US and India. How can any of these Democratic children have any hope of even understanding the stage of world events? |

Army people work during natural calamities. Is this deviating them from their main purpose, or is this the use of resources? |
